Radiofrequency

Radiofrequency (RF) is a procedure that works to improve skin laxity, and conditions that have developed through ageing.

Working best in the treatment of sagging skin, wrinkles and stretch marks, Radiofrequency boasts possessing the most reliable and toleratable technology for skin tightening and fat reduction, in beside of being useful.

The number of skin collagen and elastin naturally decline, as we age. We often find our skin starts to become less taut, leading to the development of visible skin conditions that are often unwanted. The radiofrequency is delivered by an applicator, providing heat to both the skin’s superficial and inner layers, triggering an immediate tightening effect.

This comfortable and painless procedure stimulates the regrowth of collagen in the dermis by simulating the situation we had in a younger age, without causing any damage to the skin’s surface. The process helps the body concentrate on the collagen fibres, leading to a quicker regeneration of collagen and elastin. We are naturally losing all the time and producing at a slower rate as we age.

While undergoing the procedure, you will experience warmness and a possible dull tingly feeling. Repeated treatments can ensure maintaining longer-term results, enjoying firmer, tighter skin, although it is essential to note that the ageing process and its effects will continue to occur. It is especially suitable for attacking stretch marks, which it does from the inside out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of Radiofrequency are available?
Several types of effective RF exist such as Monopolar, Bipolar and Tripolar Radiofrequency. Monopolar Radiofrequency is most frequently used for non-surgical body contouring and is especially useful for fat and cellulite reduction. Both Bipolar and Tripolar Radiofrequency are often used to tighten and rejuvenate the skin, especially on and around the facial areas, and have proven outstanding results.
The unique handheld device’s movement is helped by a lubricating gel applied over the treatment area. The practitioner works systematically across the area being addressed, delivering targeted RF energy to it. When the treatment is concluded, a soothing gel may then be applied to your skin.
It has been found that the most common side effects of RF treatment are some swelling, redness. Bruising and very rarely superficial burning around the treated area has been reported. This rare side-effect usually subsides and disappears within a few days. These contra-actions are due to the heating up of the skin and underlying tissue from the Radiofrequency energy. Our device has inbuilt cooling mechanisms to protect your skin from the heat and make the treatment more comfortable.
Although not necessary for everyone, you may find that you will want to apply a cooling or soothing product to the treated area following a session. We advise using a UV protection cream to the treatment area. We usually recommend an average of 6-8 sessions in a treatment programme, 1-3 weeks apart. Most individuals resumed regular activities immediately after treatment, with a monthly maintenance session to retain your optimum level.
The device used at Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic is suitable for use on a wide range of areas on both the face and body.
