Phototherapy
By applying specific wavelengths of light to the skin, repair and replenishment of compromised tissue cells can be accelerated, improving overall cellular health.
As the skin is vulnerable to many changes, various conditions can begin to develop over time with ageing and environmental conditions being contributors. The general complexion can become dull and dry, oily and congested or dehydrated, show the visible signs of ageing, see facial volume loss, and develop lines and wrinkles.
These concerns are often unwanted by the affected person, seeking treatment to rejuvenate the skin and create a more youthful appearance. Utilising specific light wavelengths can trigger a natural bio-stimulatory effect in human tissue, energising skin cells for faster healing and rejuvenation (200% acceleration within 24 hours). The biological bio-stimulatory impact, in turn, stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen, stimulate lymph activity and blood flow.
By free radical generated during the interaction between light and acne bacteria, Phototherapy can successfully destroy acne bacteria, decrease inflammation and sebum levels, improve Acne by about 80%. Also, Phototherapy enhances skin tone, texture, and clarity, even Acne scar.
LED (Light Emitting Diodes) Celluma is a scientifically proven, non-thermal and non-invasive procedure that uses low-level light therapy to re-regulate cellular function of the skin, useful for improving many conditions on the face and body.
At Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic, IPL treatment is also available to help manage Rosacea, Acne conditions, and rejuvenate the skin. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy can help to control the symptoms of Rosacea by delivering controlled light to the skin in specific wavelengths.
This treatment will eradicate inflammation to the skin in which redness and pimples can be attributed to. Also, IPL can suppress the blood flow of superficial vessels that add to the blushed appearance. The results will provide a natural and gradual improvement to the skin.
A full assessment of the face and your concerns at Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic will enable your expert therapist to outline the best treatment option, based on the symptoms you are presenting with.

Frequently Asked Questions
The treatment recommended for you will be based on full facial assessment results, carried out at your pre-treatment consultation. Your expert therapist will look at the severity of the condition and discuss with you which option would be more beneficial.
A therapist at Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic will put together a bespoke treatment plan for you. Depending on your condition, we may recommend using LED as a solo treatment twice a week for 4-6 weeks. However, in combination with other treatments such as Microdermabrasion, or Radiofrequency can be performed after other treatments in a weekly or bi-weekly plan.
LED Celluma Light Therapy is a versatile treatment that can be used in combination with a variety of other procedures including Microdermabrasion, Radiofrequency, HydrO2 Facial, Chemical Peeling, Micro-needling and Dermapen, Electro-current and manual facials
Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic takes the safety and well-being of all its patients very seriously. The procedure itself and the products used within it are all of the medical-grade approval, carried out in adherence to stringent protocols.
Treatments of this nature are generally thought of as being very comfortable, and even quite relaxing. It is not uncommon at Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic for patients to undergo this treatment while waiting for another procedure.
You will be made fully aware of the whole process in your pre-treatment consultation, including any risks or side effects that may be incurred as a result. This treatment generally reports very mildly after effects, such as facial redness.
It would not be unusual to experience some dryness, redness or itching after undergoing the IPL procedure and can be soothed using cool packs if necessary.
The safety of IPL treatments can be increased when they are performed by professionals who are appropriately trained. Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic ensures all its patients’ safety and well-being through carefully followed protocols and procedures.
Many patients report experiencing minimal downtime from IPL or Environ Cool Peel as they are very gentle and kind to the skin.
In general, we do not recommend most treatments, including Phototherapy during pregnancy due to this period’s delicate nature. The main contraindications of Phototherapy are photosensitising medications such as Lithium, Melatonin, Phenothiazine antipsychotics, Amiodarone, Digoxin, and certain antibiotics Doxycycline. Also, diseases that involve the retina of the eyes like diabetes can be considered as a contraindication. People with a history of skin cancer epilepsy and seizures, acute or cutaneous Porphyria, Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) should also avoid this kind of treatment.
