Unwanted Tattoo

Tattoos are a form of body art and are often used as a way of expressing oneself.

Just as applying makeup or the style of clothes a person wears, a tattoo can represent a person’s style or personality. For others, a tattoo can be used to display something of personal significance; to commemorate, pay tribute to or symbolise something held dear to them. Whether a person decides to have a tattoo somewhere discreet or in a more readily seen place, the type of inking they have comes down to personal preference.

Tattoos are done using a special handheld machine. The device has a needle fixed to it which traces over a design drawn on to the skin, delivering ink permanently into the skin and tissues. The needle can have several ends, with each type being used to create a different effect and deliver various colours and shades.

Although many people are encouraged to think very carefully before getting a tattoo, it is often the case that a design or statement that once seemed like a good idea becomes unwanted.

As time passes trends change and so can personal tastes. As life moves on, what was once considered to be something significant or attractive to you, can now seem irrelevant or unpleasing to the eye.

At Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic, removing a tattoo can be done using a Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser. When the laser penetrates the skin and tissues, the tattoo ink is broken down by its energies. These tiny fragments are then absorbed into the bloodstream, safely disposed of by the body’s natural processes.

Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser can effectively remove or reduce bold colours such as black or dark blue. A tattoo can not be removed totally in some cases, but its appearance can be dramatically reduced, becoming barely noticeable.
