Frequently Asked Questions

Am I suitable for ear piercing?
By consulting with Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic’s specialist in delivering ear piercing, you can discuss the result you desire and the benefits it can provide. Your expert practitioner can recommend the best option for you and the approach that will best suit you according to your concerns and the look you wish to achieve.
Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic’s ear-piercing practitioner is a trained and experienced professional who safely and precisely carries out each service. The products and brands used for these treatments are reputable throughout the aesthetics industry and are trusted to ensure a safe and successful outcome. Although ear piercing is a very common procedure, it does involve some potential side effects including allergic reaction, abscess, embedded earrings, keloid scarring, traumatic tearing. If appropriate hygiene isn’t followed, the chance of infection increases.
If the hole closes, you should wait three months and have the earring placed in a different spot where no scar material is created. To avoid ear hole getting closed when the earring needs to be removed, you may request a 20-gauge Teflon catheter ring put into the hole to keep it open while your ear heals.
Ear piercing may have some degree of discomfort attached. This discomfort sensation and redness may only be for a short period, either when the treatment occurs or for a few hours afterwards, this will settle within 48 hours. If there is likely to be some sensitivity or tenderness to the skin or treatment area, a suitable method of anaesthesia will be used, or steps will be taken to soothe and calm the skin.
Wash hands thoroughly before touching studs or ear. Cleanse front and back of the ear twice a day without removing studs. Then rotate studs 2 or 3 times, 90º left and 90º right (a quarter turn only). In between cleansing, keep the ear dry. After shampooing, the ear should be rinsed with clean water. Do not Remove studs unnecessarily. Leave studs in the ears for six weeks continuously (12 weeks for cartilage) then golden or surgical stainless steel earrings may be worn continuously for the first six months from piercing.
Dr PJ Aesthetic Clinic will ensure that a consultation with your practitioner occurs before the procedure. This short consultation will enable the clients to be given information regarding any side effects or risks that may be incurred. Typically, ear-piercing carries very low risk providing the patient shares details of their general health and medical history, if required.
It is to be expected that an ear piercing will incur very little if no downtime. Any sensitivity to the skin or the treatment area is experienced, it should only be very mild and should not mean that you can not carry on with your day as usual.
