Stretch Marks Treatment

Stretch marks are a common complaint, appearing as thin streaks that occur when the skin has been stretched beyond its usual form over a short period.

Also called Striae, stretch marks can affect anyone, but are more likely to develop in women on hips, stomach, breasts, thighs, upper arms and lower back. They are not harmful but can cause the affected person to feel embarrassment, with a lack of confidence in their self-image impacting everyday living. 

When the body grows at a healthy rate, it is usually slow enough for the skin to adapt and stretch accordingly. These scar-like lesions often start as wrinkly and raised reddish or purple (dependent on skin colour). Over time they will become less noticeable, fading to a silvery-white colour and flattening in appearance.
