A successful health and fitness programme always begins with the essential elements of diet and nutrition. Emphasis is placed on understanding the importance of food on your daily performance and how you feel. It is also essential to learn how to maintain your ideal weight once you have achieved your goal. You will undertake a detailed health assessment during your initial consultation. At this time, we will analyse your calorie and nutrient intake. For one week, you will be asked to complete a food diary that involves documenting everything you consume, a method that has proven invaluable in discovering the hidden weaknesses in otherwise healthy diets. Using this diary, we can more accurately evaluate how your present eating routine compares with what you should be eating to most effectively reach your desired result. We will then also assess your strengths and the issues present as your most difficult challenges around food and create a new day-to-day diet plan.

You will experience safe, long-lasting results when combining a reduced-calorie diet with enjoyable physical activity; a healthy goal is between 0.5 to 2 pounds lost each week. You will be coached to make healthy food choices and in portion control, being encouraged to adopt some form of regular exercise, even something as simple as daily half-hour walks. In combination, these new habits will assist in not only losing, but in keeping the weight off. While the initial purpose of weight loss may be to achieve a slimmer body, it may also prevent, or potentially reduce existing health issues like heart disease, high blood pressure, and type II Diabetes.

The short answer is that no food, taken in moderation will cause you to gain weight more than any other. Whole grains such as brown rice, whole-wheat bread, cereal, and pasta contain the entire grain and take longer to digest. They are often felt to be a better choice as you will stay full longer. Specific dietary advice recommends reducing calorie intake and increasing physical activity.
